Cast Base Desk

A pair of cast iron legs, found in an old workshop in South East London, were stripped of the remnants of old paint and rust then coated in clear lacquer. Two pieces of steel angle, sprayed black, link the legs together to provide a good, sturdy base.

The top was once part of a headboard which, once stripped of the muddy brown varnish which covered it, was found to have lovely walnut figuring.

The combination of these two elements come together to form a genuinely original piece, strong and solid yet graceful.

The vital statistics are: Width 1220mm, Depth 610mm, Height 845mm.
